Harry Richard Cochrane, 69, of Apopka, Florida left us to join Diana Lynn in heaven on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 20, 1947 in McIntosh, Florida, Richard was the son of the late Sidney J. Cochrane and Mary Lou (Gillis) Cochrane.
He leaves behind his wife Regina (Hall) and four children; Rick Cochrane and wife Nikki of Winter Garden, FL, Jennifer Antcliff and her husband Steve of Ledyard, CT, Cyndy Dube and her husband Mike, of Madeira Beach, FL, and Scott Cochrane of Apopka, FL. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren; Ashley Owens, Curt Stone, Drew Antcliff, Caitlyn Cochrane, Ally Antcliff, Courtney Cochrane, and Lainey Antcliff.
Richard was a devoted husband to Regina and they were married for 51 years, 8 months, and 13 days. He was blessed with four wonderful children (who were smart enough to choose equally wonderful spouses) and seven incredible grandchildren and as he always said, “There’s not an ugly one in the bunch”. He was extremely proud of all their accomplishments.
Richard had a 25 year career at Lockheed Martin before retiring in 2010.
Richard was a commercial fisherman for many years. Fishing was his passion. He loved being on the lake before dawn, when it was slick as glass and watching the sun rise. He now fishes on the heavenly shores.
Home was his favorite place to be. He was happiest sitting on the back porch, watching the Cardinals and Painted Buntings come to the bird feeder. He liked watching old western reruns in the afternoon and the Andy Griffith Show in evening, everyday phone calls from his brother and best friend Danny, mid-night discussions about life with Drew, and telling tall tales to all his grandchildren.
Richard enjoyed hot coffee, cold Pepsi’s, special order milkshakes made by Ashley, Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Ice Cream and most of Regina’s southern cooking.
He had a green thumb for growing vegetables and was famous for the absolutely best ‘Papa’ potatoes.
His sense of humor was one-of-a-kind, which greatly contributed to many of our unforgettable memories of him.
For the past 10 years his BFF (best furry friend) and constant companion was his dog Skipper, whom he liked more than most people.
Richard will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He will forever remain in their hearts.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Winter Oak Funeral Home & Cremation, 1132 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787.
